Beneath The Clouds is one of those pieces that came from a place of stillness. I found myself leaning into the textures and feelings of water—wanting to capture that quiet moment just before a wave breaks, when everything feels suspended.If you look closely, you’ll see surfers in the water, sitting on their boards or paddling through the swell. It’s that in-between space they inhabit that fascinates me—the peace, the anticipation, the rhythm of breath syncing with the ocean. It’s something I imagine as a deeply meditative state, and one that mirrors how I often feel when creating.Using my Photographic Impressions style, I layered texture upon texture, building a tactile quality reminiscent of monoprints. I love how the process allows me to push photography beyond the literal and into something you can almost touch—where mood, memory, and sensation are just as important as what's seen.
